For the assignment we had to choose one story story to read and this will able then to develop further ideas.

The story I chose to do is Rapunzel By The Brothers Grimm. I have chosen this story because I like the idea of the royal theme and this instead me of how this story can be changed in to my own modern version include the research of the royal influence research to give me the historical idea for the further developed later on. I like the concept the having the royal theme which is already there in the story to extend on.

synopsis:

The story is set in the country of America.

The story starts with the main characters which are Rapunzel who lives with her step mother called Mother Gothal. The year of the story is in 2030.

They live in a palace which is a modern royal building. The two main colour of the building are golden and royal red colour it also includes some diamonds on the outside of the building. The surroundings of the buildings is beautiful place where it has a lake around the building and animals

To make my research interesting, I looked into the art of fantasy to show the different elements of the modern fairy tale as I really like the details of fantasy and I will developed this idea further on to extend my research and will help me to design my charters later on. By looking at different styles of art has given me more ideas I can include for my work further on:

In order to start to give me ideas for the story, I did some video research and looked into the interesting ideas I can include for my characters when I design them, and to think about some of the main points for the story as well as to think about the cinematography at this point:

What I like about this video:

interesting ideas of telling a story with imagery in a short time to knowlogy the story what is about.
Good use of some modern concept in this video
Good quick to the point induction to the charters
Liking the idea of the powers being used for the main charter
Captures the setting and the emotions for the charters
Liking the use of the worrier idea in some areas in this video.
Interesting underwater scene in the editing this makes it more interesting to find out why the charters have an unusually unexpected scene wanting the viewers to find out more.
Good use of the ballroom dancing
Good use of the modern elements to make the video interesting and linking the combination of the worriers in the videos.

What I like about this video:

Good use the powers to make the characters modern and interesting
Liking the idea of the power to make t elephant disappear and reappear
The setting is royal and detective
detail embobry of the costumes given for the charters this helps to make the characters to stand out and includes the traditional cultures that the charters are linked with. From these costumes you can tell the setting is based on the Asian roots of this setting.
Like the use of the instruments this makes it more modern.

These are my first character design I did from getting inspirations from the artist I have looked at. I found experimenting the colours was interesting however it was very time consuming to do. I wanted to simplify my charter design as it will be easy to work from.

In order to help me witre my script, I looked at video refences to help me get some ideas and the asspstes of cinmeatogry. Aswell as looking at the time and the pasting of the charachers:

What I like about this video:

Has moments of pausing
Lots of dialogue in the right timing fames
Good use of the spinning movement of the camera shots
Has slow animated motions
Good use of the music in the background
includes slow and fast movements makes the fight scene interesting
sneaky movements such as trapping, punching with unexpected moves

Frist draft of storyboard

From looking and observing the above research I did of the short animations, I got a lot of inspirational ideas and the different camera shots being used. Therefore I applied some of the research to my ideas to help me with deciding for my storyboard.

I wrote some helpful notes into my storyboard and other improvement to included, which will be helpful to make any changes or include other camera shots.

This will help to show how my final storyboard is going to look like.

Script Treatment:

Introduction on what is happening in this scene:

Mother Gothal wants to cut Rapunzel hair as it conations the supernaural powers to use for her potion so that she can use this to cast a spell on Rapunzel. To stay locked up in the tower forever. Whereas and Mother Gothal to use these powers to become story and take over the world, to trap others.

The oral from Rapunzel’s hair has powers of hair grows and gets shorts and longer and changes the colour of her hair depending on Rapunzel. As well as Rapunzel can shapeshifter anything she wants to from her hair.

Mother Gothal found out Rapunzel esaped from the tower from the orah powers her had to recreate a beautiful painting her saw from the tower window than her went into another dimensions.

To do this Mother Gothal wanted to try to put Rapunzel to sleep and Rapunzel disagrees to this. Mother Gothal then wanted to give her poison for her to die and to use her body for capture Gothal to use as a slayer. Cutting Rapunzel’s hair and use the soul for her oral powers.

Gothal Mother wanted to tick Rapunzel to think the passion was water to help her to sleep.

Rapunzel also learns that Mother Gothel was the one who killed her birth parents, to stop Rapunzel from becoming queen and to stop her to explore the world.

Fight scene:

What is happening in the fight scene?

Introducing scene in Rapunzel’s room inside the tower.
Prince and dragon runs towards Rapunzel room
Rapunzel and Mother gothel arguing and slowly break into a fight.
Mother Gothel uses her power to make her nails longer and layered Rapunzel to attack her.
Rapunzel gets hurt and gets her sword to attack back at Mother Gothel
Rapunzel runs toward mother gothel Mother Gothel and acttacks her with her sword in Mother Gothel heart
Mother Gothel gets angry and makes her nails longer and attacks Rapunzel.
Rapunzel gets hurt and she falls down.
Mother Gothel is going to attack Rapunzel and the prince comes running with the sword to defender Rapunzel.

target audience: Older teenagers of 16 and over.

Act one scene 1

Prince Leo and Saphira the Dragon are looking for Rapunzel as they know she is in trouble. Both of them run inside the tower towards Rapunzel’s room.

Leo: “Its this way”. “Hope Rapunzel is fine”.

Saphira: “Let’s hope so”.

Continued on running.

Mother Gothal and Rapunzel arguing.

Mother Gothal : “Rapunzel what a weak young looking girl you are”. “that hair of yours is so long, and I wanted to cut it”.

Rapunzel: “I will not let you touch my hair”

Mother Gothal “Ok if this is how you obey me that I will laser you”.

Mother Gothal uses her hand and shoots Rapunzel.

Rapunzel “Ouch”. (Looking sad)

Mother Gothal uses her mind power to make her eyes red. Meanwhile the prince and the dragon enters the room and stop to see what’s happening. Emergently they see the laser powers of the explosions.

Mother Gothal “you’re so weak”. Get up and fight me.

Mother Gothal reaches her hand out and making her nails long to attack Rapunzel.

Rapunzel quickly gets her sword out and runs fast towards mother Gothal to attack.

Rapunzel “you’re wrong, I am a worrier and you can ever defeat me”.

Leo: gasps “oh look its Rapunzel lets help her”

Saphira: “Let’s go”

They run to help her.

Rapunzel aggressively stabs Mother Gothal near her heart to kill her. Mother Gothal screams with pain.

Mother Gothal: “Right, that’s it I HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR SILLY GAMES!

Mother Gothal makes her powers stronger by making her eyes red and extending her nails longer than before.

Mother Gothal attacks Rapunzel with her nails and Rapunzel falls into the floor feeling out of energy to fight back.

Mother Gothal: “Ahahahah you see, I am stronger then you can ever imagine”. “And your time is up.”

Leo: “Wait stop”. (Comes running) “That will not happen today you soul stealer”.

Leo: Come on fight me”.

Leo blades his sharp sword at Mother Gothal. Mother Gothal becomes weak.

Leo: “Rapunzel, get up”.

Rapunzel: “ok”. Coughs

Leo gets his hand out to shoot electric shock near Mother Gothal for a distraction.

Mother Gothal: sighs huuh. (Looking confused)

Saphira: “Take this you demon slayer” (Shoots fireball at Mother Gothal)

Leo: “You know this is your time to die. You already killed many innocent people and as a result you shall pay for your sins.”

Leo gets his sword and runs to attack Gothal Mother.

Rapunzel: Gasps with looking shocked.

Saphira: “Have some of this” (shoots bigger fireball at Mother Gothal for her to scream in agony)

Leo: “Let’s fishes this off”

Stabs Mother Gothal in her heart. Her pieces scatters all around as she is defeated.

Leo “It’s all over now”.

The New Improved Script

The last script was not correctly done so I redid a new script and edited some of the characters such as I changed the dragon to a male due to it was difficult to fine a female voice actor and this saved time as well as I changed the dragon’s name into Stardust Dragon as you will not get confused from the last work and script I did.
